God's Voice

When you turn to God, He responds. It may not be in the way we anticipate, but His voice can be found if we keep our hearts open.

Recently, I found myself praying for direction, and He kept pointing me toward small, simple things. I wanted Him to open up the universe to me, and yet instead of a phone call from a national media outlet, my daughter would pull me to the couch pleading, "Mama, snuggle with me," or my son would climb into bed with me in the dark morning and warm his chilly hands on my face.

I was looking for God to show me how to change the world, and He kept nudging me into small moments. I still yearn to upend the world with my work, but I am finding peace in the tiny moments that will add up to make the difference in the lives of my children.

Book Published

My book has been in print for a few weeks now and I'm starting to get some buzz. It's called, "Reborn Virgin Women: If You Wanna Be Happy, Keep Your Pants Zipped." Think "10 Stupid Things Women Do to Mess Up Their Lives" without the morals, and "The Rules" without the inane rules. It's a secular sexual abstinence book for single women.

A friend of mine asked me if it were for married couples. Wow. Uh, definitely NOT! I've heard of some married couples practicing abstinence, but I really don't see the point. Sex is great, especially in married relationships. I'm very pro-sex, but only within the safety of marriage.

I promote women marrying well. I'm not talking about financial security, but rather emotional and relational security. That's where we can create the best lives for ourselves, our mates and our children.

Listening Wives

After depositing the kids to their various schools, my husband and I had a breakfast date. It's a great time to chat, fully awake and with plenty of coffee to ignite the tongue.

Sometimes connecting just means listening, which can be harder for us female types. He actually called me later, apologizing for going on about work while I sat there silently draining another cup. I told him he didn't need to say he sorry. Listening to the man I love is not a chore, and it needs to be required of all wives.

We have to remember that we're not the only ones with problems or issues. We need to keep our tongues still and let our husbands offer pieces of their lives to us. I loved hearing about his thoughts and views without interruption. He needs that safety, space and validation, especially from me, the one who loves him more than anyone except God.
